Rare earth ferrosilicate alloy is made of ferrosilicate, rare earth, calcium, pig iron or scrap steel in a certain proportion through high temperature melting of the alloy, the production of rare earth ferrosilicate alloy is carried out in the furnace, high power consumption, can also be used in the production of medium frequency furnace. Rare earth ferrosilicate alloy is very effective as denaturant in steel.

Rare earth ferosilicate alloys generally contain 17%-37% rare earth, Si35%-46%, Mn5%-8%, Ca5%-8%, Ti6%, the rest is iron. The alloy is silver gray, melting point is 1473-1573℃. Rare earth ferrosilicate is massive, metallic luster, hard and brittle, easy to crush. Rare earth ferrosilicon alloys are silvery gray. The rare earth ferrosilicon magnesium alloy gleams blue in a silver-gray matrix.

The main uses of rare earth ferrosilicon are:

(1), used for cast steel cast iron, has a strong deoxidation, desulfurization effect;

(2) It is the basic material for the production of nodulating agent, vermiculating agent and inoculant;

(3), in the production of steel and iron as additives, alloy agent;

(4) Rare earth ferrosilicon improves the morphology of eutectic carbides in high chromium cast iron. It should be noted that moderate modification treatment of rare earth ferrosilicon significantly improves the impact toughness and wear resistance of high chromium white cast iron. The optimal addition amount of rare earth ferrosilicon is about 0.8-1.0%, exceeding this amount, impact toughness and wear resistance will decrease.
