The main component of ferrotitanium is an iron alloy of titanium and iron. It also contains impurities such as aluminum, silicon, carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, and manganese.

There are three main varieties according to the content of titanium: FeTi30 (containing Ti25.0%~35.0%, Al<8.5%, Si<5.0%), FeTi40 (containing Ti35.0%~45.0%, Al<9.5%, Si<4.0%) and FeTi70 (including Ti65%~75%, A10.5%~5%, Si<0.5%).

Role in steelmaking:

①, used as deoxidizer, degassing agent. The deoxidation capacity of titanium is much higher than that of silicon and manganese, and it can reduce the segregation of steel ingots, improve the quality of steel ingots, and increase the yield.

②, used as alloying agent. It is the main raw material for special steel grades, which can increase the strength, corrosion resistance and stability of steel. Widely used in stainless steel, tool steel, etc. And can improve the performance of cast iron. It is used in the foundry industry to improve the wear resistance, stability and processability of cast iron.

Titanium iron is also the raw material of titanium calcium type electrode coating.
