Great use of alloy ferrosilicon

Ferrosilicon is an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is mainly composed of silicon-containing raw materials and iron-containing raw materials in a certain proportion in a submerged arc furnace. Based on a certain high temperature environment, the raw material mixture is continuously melted and chemically reacted to form a liquid state. Iron-silicon alloy, and finally formed by casting to form ferrosilicon.

Composition of raw materials: Ferrosilicon is made by smelting coke, steel scrap (iron oxide scale), quartz (or silica) as raw materials with electric furnace.

Ferrosilicon is an essential deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In torch steel, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation. Brick iron is also used in steelmaking as an alloying agent. Adding a certain amount of silicon to the steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of the steel, improve the magnetic permeability of the steel, and reduce the hysteresis loss of the transformer steel.

High-silicon ferrosilicon or siliceous alloys are used in the ferroalloy industry as reducing agents for the production of low-carbon ferroalloys. Ferrosilicon can be used as an inoculant for ductile iron when added to cast iron, and can prevent the formation of carbides, promote the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite, and improve the performance of cast iron.
